Finding Work Opportunities

Networking

Beyond attending on-campus recruiting events and job fairs, networking can be the best way to meet with companies that interest you. You can take advantage of one of the best resources available-the alumni from your school who work in these companies. If you read your school alumni newsletter and take a look at the section of who's doing what, you likely will be impressed with the top-notch companies where your fellow alumni are making their mark. Also, your alumni association may be able to provide you with a list of alumni who are willing to help with networking, job searches or mentoring. They can be great resources in your job search. Make a list of alumni and you'd like to talk with and take it to your alumni affairs office. They'll be able to hook you up with the people you want to meet.

There are few things stronger than the pride in one's alma mater. Take advantage of this networking opportunity, and do your best to repay the favor when you're in a position to do so later in your career.
