"Our enrollment is just under 30,000 and we have 3,000 to 4,000 hits on CashCourse per month."

"Amy and her colleagues have always provided our center with outstanding support. Through their dedication and support today, we consider NEFE a valuable partner!"

WHAT ARE CASHCOURSES' NEXT STEPS?
  • A Facebook group for administrators at schools using CashCourse is being built to help administrators stay updated, ask questions, and talk about best practices.
  • We will continue to provide examples of CashCourse in use and updates on resources through our bimonthly CashCourse Connection.
  • We are looking at adding increased website interactivity for students. Stay tuned to future CashCourse Connections.
  • Don't be shy... feel free to provide additional feedback or suggestions to Amy at abb@nefe.org.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!

We've selected 50 winners for the $25 Visa gift cards. The gift cards have been signed, sealed, and delivered. We appreciate your valuable input on the survey and thank you for working with us to make CashCourse an even better resource!

LEARNING THROUGH INTERACTIVITY

CashCourse now offers active learning tools developed by the Take Charge America Institute at the University of Arizona. The active learning tools include games and instructions that you can use with CashCourse workshops or in any other group settings. These tools can be found in the Administrative section of CashCourse under "Resources."

BRINGING FINANCES DOWN TO EARTH

All students have stuff they regret buying — whether or not they admit it. Spendster.org is a site where people can anonymously confess the stuff they shouldn't have bought and talk about better uses for that money if they still had it.

NEFE created this interactive site full of user-generated videos and photos, message boards, interactive calculator, and articles, to help users identify personal needs and wants, and learn ways to spend smarter.

How you can use Spendster with CashCourse:

  • Challenge your students to make funny videos or take photos and create entertaining captions of their bad purchases. Have students upload them to Spendster and then show them during your workshops.
  • Start your workshop by showing your favorite video and then talking about needs and wants.
  • Print and pass along this handout to your colleagues.
  • Post the Spendster URL on or grab the video application for your Web site.
  • Digg, tweet, stumble, or bookmark Spendster on your social networks of choice.

CashCourse e-mail updates.

Make sure you add CashCourse@nefe.org to the Safe list in your address book.

The Office of Financial Aid at Eastern Michigan University recently gave financial aid and money management presentations at their student center and a local bank. Several portions of their presentation referenced CashCourse.

They passed out flyers to promote the presentation, and their CashCourse Web site.

EMU's Financial Aid Office also created their own graphic to promote CashCourse on the Office of Financial Aid’s homepage.

Money ranks as college students' fourth-highest source of stress.
