Happy Financial Literacy Month! In recognition of this month, the CashCourse team is featuring the great initiatives you are doing at your schools to celebrate. Here’s what a few of you are doing on campus:
- Berkshire Community College is holding multiple workshops all about credit throughout the month of April. The workshop presentation focuses on building good credit, repairing bad credit and what determines a credit score.
- Elmhurst College, with funding from CashCourse’s Reimbursement Program, is putting on two different workshops for students. The first workshop “Understanding Your Financial Aid Package” will take place in a residence hall. The second workshop “Pay What You Owe” will take place in the school’s community center and is targeted at third- and fourth-year students.
- Las Positas College is holding multiple workshops to educate students on managing money more effectively. The workshops are designed to help students take advantage of Financial Aid resources. The event will showcase an accounting professor, the Hispanic Serving Institution Director, and financial aid advisor as guest speakers.
- Sam Houston State University is planning a few signature workshops as part of Houston Money Week. The topics include budgeting for hobbies, preventing fraud and identity theft, and a game of Jeopardy. They are also finishing an opportunity for students to complete the CashCourse Budgeting Basics coursework for a chance to win a $500 scholarship.
- South Dakota State University is holding a series of programs called “Adulting 101” which will focus on strategies to create a healthy lifestyle, including managing your finances. Each week in April, they will present on a different personal finance topic at the campus library and engage students using games and interactive activities.
- University of California, Irvine is holding a contest for students to create CashCourse video testimonials. They will also be doing prize drawings for students who complete CashCourse modules, presenting about CashCourse at the beginning of classes, and holding a financial literacy workshop.
- The University of Cincinnati is hosting several pop-up events during the month of April, culminating with their Money Con event on April 10th and 11th. Money Con will be a tabling event with money-related resources, games and prizes for student participants, a Cash Cart activity, and a “Life After UC: The Game” activity.
- University of Maryland, Baltimore County is holding Money Smart Week, which includes a series of workshops and presentations on personal finance topics in the context of health, wellness, and student success. The week also includes a “Ca$h Cart” event where students will answer financial trivia while getting a ride to class.
